The Dave Curry Memorial Music Fund has awarded a scholarship to support a student from the Laura Secord Secondary School music program in St. Catharines, Ontario

The bursary was presented to graduating student, Ayla Jamal.  She will be attending a post secondary program in September and has excelled in music related classes and extra curricular activities in her time at Laura Secord. Ayla will be incorporating music into her post-secondary program”

Denise Curry visited Laura Secord on June 10th to make the arrangements for the financial support and at that time donated three guitars to the music program.  Two of the instruments from the late Dave Curry`s collection and one added by Mighty Duck Blues Band sound tech Francis Oliver.  Denise returned to Laura Secord SS on June 27th to attend the graduation ceremony and meet with the recipient.

Dave Curry was the founder of the St. Catharines based Mighty Duck Blues Band, a popular group who continues to hold a residency in the Niagara Region at Jo Blos Rock & Wok.  He was the band`s lead guitarist, vocalist and principal songwriter.  The Dave Curry Memorial Music Fund was created to extend the passion he had during his life time for music and musicians.  DCMMF is administered by Dave`s wife Denise and The Mighty Duck Blues Band.
