Jim Casson was born in Welland, raised in Fonthill and subsequently lived in Port Colborne and Pelham, returning to Welland 30 years ago.

Jim is a Chartered Accountant; he was in public practice for 39 years, retiring in 1996 as a partner with a national firm. He then served for a couple of years as Secretary-Treasurer of a former client, retiring again at the end of 2002.

Together with his wife, Noreen, they share eight grandchildren; he has two in Pelham; she has three in Welland and three in Connecticut. Although Jim has a reputation as a conservative and a curmudgeon, the grandchildren have not yet caught on so they still treat him with respect.

Now that Jim is working toward full retirement, Noreen wants him to get a new interest so that he is not always underfoot. The challenges of the Tribune Community Editorial Board should help fulfill that goal.
